The strategy for the development of the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification of CIS countries has been adopted

The adoption of the CIS Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification (ISC) Development Strategy until 2030 is one of about 20 issues on the agenda of the 57th ISC meeting. The adopted development strategy reflects a common vision for the areas of cooperation assigned to the ISC. They have been harmonised with the CIS development strategy and the norms and rules of international organisations. By the end of the year, a draft action plan for the strategy's implementation will be prepared, the press service clarified.

An amendment No. 1 to the Work Programme for Interstate Standardisation for 2019-2021, updated for the current year, was also adopted. It includes 167 draft interstate standardisation documents planned for development in the fuel and energy, mining, metallurgical, petrochemical, chemical, agro-industrial, and electrical engineering complexes, as well as in light industry, healthcare, mechanical engineering, information technology, and other sectors. The amendment was formed based on proposals from Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia.

240 new interstate standards and amendments thereto have been included in the fund of interstate standards.

The meeting participants approved a new version of the procedure for conducting the competition for the CIS Prize for achievements in the field of product and service quality. The document has been brought into line with the new version of the regulations for this competition, approved by the decision of the Council of CIS Heads of Government dated May 29, 2020. The approved version of the competition procedure will be sent for consideration to the CIS Executive Committee.

To stimulate the production and export of high-quality products and services, the implementation of innovative technologies and effective management methods in organisations of CIS member states, a decision was made at the meeting to announce the next, eighth, CIS 2021 Prize competition for achievements in the field of product and service quality.

In the field of metrology, certain national standard samples of Belarus and Russia have been recognised as interstate standard samples of the composition and properties of substances and materials. They are intended for use in the sphere of state metrological control and supervision, and state regulation of ensuring the uniformity of measurements of the participating states.

The meeting discussed issues related to the development of draft agreements on technical barriers in mutual trade between CIS participating states, and on the mutual recognition of accreditation of conformity assessment bodies.
