"The document is purely political in nature," the statement emphasizes. "The safety issues of the Belarusian NPP have become a subject of constant speculation for certain political forces in Lithuania, an opportunity to "score points" to please their own interests. For this purpose, the image of Belarus as a source of nuclear security threat in Europe is being formed."

The Ministry of Energy believes that the majority of the Lithuanian side's claims, including the theses of the resolution, are based on conjecture, lack substantiated arguments, and in some cases contain unreliable information. "In particular, the document refers to the loading of nuclear fuel into the reactor core of the first power unit of the Belarusian NPP without the appropriate permission of the regulatory body, certain illegal works and irresponsible development of nuclear energy, which does not correspond to reality," the statement of the Ministry of Energy notes. "We expect that the international community is capable of objectively assessing the situation and will not take into account such clearly politicized, factually unconfirmed assessments of the Lithuanian side."

The construction of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant is carried out in accordance with all necessary safety requirements. This has been repeatedly confirmed by IAEA missions, assessments by other reputable international organizations with which Belarus cooperates on an ongoing basis, the Ministry of Energy stated.
