Today, a unified traffic safety day is being held in Lepel District under the slogan "Attention – Children!"

The Unified Road Safety Day is aimed at preventing road traffic accidents involving minors.

Traditionally, on the last Friday of the month, State Automobile Inspectorate officers across the country hold meetings with workforces of enterprises and organisations. They remind all road users of their rights and responsibilities, of the rules for safe behaviour on the road and in transport, the consequences of reckless behaviour and non-compliance with the Traffic Regulations, liability for various violations in the field of road safety, and also call for preventive work with their children and monitoring the whereabouts of minors. Dear parents, remember that road traffic begins not with the carriageway, but with the first steps from the threshold or entrance of the house. Walk the entire route to school with your child and unobtrusively point out the most dangerous sections – an unregulated intersection, a narrow pavement, a truck approaching a shop, parked cars, etc.

Be sure to pay attention to the dangers that arise when boarding and alighting from public transport. Under no circumstances should you walk around a stationary bus. You need to wait for the transport to depart and only after that cross the road at a pedestrian crossing. Teach children road literacy and demonstrate with your personal example how to behave correctly and safely on the road.
