I, Kulida Maria Nikolaevna, am appealing to you for help and sincerely hope for your support.
On August 13, 2025, my son, Kulida Maksim Sergeevich, born May 13, 2021, was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 3 (hereinafter referred to as SMA) at the State Institution "Republican Scientific and Practical Center "Mother and Child".
SMA is a hereditary neuromuscular disease characterized by progressive muscle atrophy. Intellectual development in individuals with SMA remains completely intact and proceeds as in healthy people.
My son has a very rare form of SMA. He has a rare mutation (point mutation) carried by only 3% of children with this disease. Because of this, it took us 8 months to confirm the diagnosis, as we simply could not find this mutation. Maksim is the only child with this specific condition in the Republic of Belarus.
The disease can be halted by the drug ZOLGENCMA, the cost of which is 1,817,000 US dollars.
Zolgensma suppresses the synthesis of pathological protein, thereby preserving the life of motor neurons, which clinically manifests as the cessation of disease progression. In the Republic of Belarus, several fundraising campaigns for ZOLGENCMA have already been successfully completed.
It is impossible to accept our child's illness. Our family has no choice but to fight. We have very little time, which is why we are crying out to the world that we need help.
I implore you to help my son Maksim! Give a Belarusian child a chance at life!
