A ten-meter arch bearing the coat of arms of Vitebsk is being erected near the railway station for the regional festival-fair of agricultural workers "Dazhynki-2020," as reported by the city's capital construction department.
Currently, construction workers are reconstructing the boulevard along Kirova Street. New paving is being laid here, and modern lighting is being installed. An entrance arch is being erected on the side of the railway station: it will feature decor and an image of the Order of the Red Banner of Labour and a fragment of the decree awarding it to the city. The alley will be decorated with flowerbeds, small architectural forms, and a sculpture dedicated to young lovers. Benches will be installed on the boulevard. "The height of the arch, including the coat of arms of Vitebsk in the center, will be ten meters," added Sergey Polsky, chief engineer of the city's Capital Construction Department.
During the festival-fair, several venues will be organized in the city center. The main events will unfold in Freedom Square and Victory Square, in and around the Summer Amphitheatre. The preliminary program of the celebration includes a procession of agricultural workers from Victory Square to the Summer Amphitheatre, where an awards ceremony and concert will take place. "Dazhynki" also intends to host exhibitions of agricultural machinery and achievements of the agro-industrial complex, organize thematic areas, and feature farmsteads from the districts of the Vitebsk region.
The traditional regional "Dazhynki" is planned to be held on September 26 this year. In Vitebsk, several important facilities have already been constructed and opened in preparation for the holiday: the Polotsk overpass, a road connecting Stroiteley Avenue with the Bilevo microdistrict, the renovated Freedom Square, and a secondary school. A football arena will also soon open in the city.
