950 children from different parts of the region took part in the regional charity Christmas tree event in Vitebsk. Boys and girls who excelled in their studies, creativity, and sports, as well as children from large families, participated in the traditional event, which is held as part of the republican charity campaign "Our Children". As in previous years, the celebration, with the participation of the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev and the Aide to the President – Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Anatoly Linevich, took place in the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall.

Of course, epidemic peculiarities introduced their own adjustments: upon entering, the children had their temperature taken, their hands disinfected, and protective masks were not forgotten.
Nikolai Sherstnev emphasised that the best of the best were invited to the celebration. The Christmas tree event brought together proactive and goal-oriented children who always look forward to this holiday.
– This year, we decided not only to hold a festive event but also to showcase the beautiful New Year's city, so some delegations arrived in advance. The Governor's Christmas Tree is a culminating moment in every child's life. And we, adults, must make every effort to ensure this holiday takes place and the children present feel the joy and happiness of the New Year's celebration. The task of adults is to ignite a spark in children's eyes and make their world warmer, more beautiful, and cozier. Children's successes are always a great joy for adults. On my own behalf, I want to wish that life in every family becomes better every year, and that every child grows up to be a worthy citizen of our country.
For the first time, a cadet, Vadim Bogovlov, attended the main Christmas tree event of the Vitebsk region. The young man said that he really liked the atmosphere and was very happy to be among those who were invited to such a large-scale and vibrant celebration.
With the start of the musical "Peter Pan", it seemed that the children could not take their phones out of their hands. They tried to capture its brightest moments of the colorful show. There was no time to sit still for long. The characters of the performance kept inviting everyone to dance and play right in the auditorium. The day also included an exchange of gifts and New Year's greetings from Ded Moroz and Snegurochka.
