In Vitebsk, at Secondary School No. 46, a museum has been opened in honour of twice Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Khristoforovich Bagramyan.

Today, the museum plays a significant role in the military-patriotic education of youth. For the sake of the memory of those who gave their lives for the Motherland, for the sake of those veterans who remained alive, for the sake of the future of our people, we must preserve and pass down from generation to generation this eternal feeling – Memory!

Addressing those present, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies Vladimir Terentyev noted that the museum's opening is a momentous event. This was preceded by extensive research work, as a colossal effort was made by researchers, educators, and schoolchildren in a relatively short period.

“The constantly maintained connection with Ivan Baghramyan's family is invaluable, as there is nothing better in the educational process than to educate the younger generation by the example of our ancestors, who, through their military feats, showed the price of peaceful life. Our grandfathers and great-grandfathers not only defended the Motherland but also did a lot in the post-war period,” emphasized Vladimir Vladimirovich.

He also explained the connection between the education system and Ivan Baghramyan: “Ivan Khristoforovich was called the ‘Pioneer Marshal’ because he led the military-patriotic game ‘Zarnitsa’ for many years.”

The congratulations were also joined by Vadim Zaryankin, Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, Nikolai Orlov, Head of the Administration of Pervomaisky District, Armen Khechoyan, General Director of the Foundation for the Development and Support of Armenian Studies, and Ruslan Shkodin, Military Commissar of the Vitebsk Region. The grandson and granddaughter of the Marshal, Ivan Sergeevich Baghramyan and Karine Nadzharova, were present at the opening ceremony, albeit online.

Suren Arayevich Avetisyan, Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the Republic of Belarus, also noted that the significance of the opening of the museum named after the twice Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Baghramyan is difficult to overestimate, as the contribution of Vitebsk region to preserving the memory of the liberator soldiers is invaluable. The honorary guest is convinced that in the future, more than one similar facility will be created and opened on Belarusian soil, and our fraternal peoples will have another reason for joint pride.
