The owners of an agro-estate near Novolukoml in Chashniki District have harvested a rich crop of peaches this year. The ONT television channel reported on how this exotic crop has taken root in the north of Belarus.
Greenhouse, almost tropical, conditions under a roof allow the peach trees to withstand frosts unusual for the crop. The fruits are small, plum-sized, and sweet in taste.
Tourists, whom the owners actively treat to the delicious harvest and even allow to participate in the harvesting, are delighted and actively share photos on social media.
Peaches mark the start of a large harvesting campaign for exotic fruits, which lasts almost six months in the estate's greenhouse. This is followed by mandarins, figs, and lemons, and by the New Year, bananas will also ripen. The next planned experiment by amateur gardeners is growing pineapples.
Heat-loving plants are no longer a rarity, even in garden plots in the Vitebsk region. Experiments with melons are also being conducted on a scientific basis: watermelons, as it turned out, grow better than melons.
