What to remember on Easter and Radunitsa: advice from rescuers In anticipation of Easter and Radunitsa, two of the most revered Christian holidays, during which believers attend church services and visit cemeteries, rescuers remind of the need to observe safety precautions.

When attending religious services, each parishioner must observe fire safety regulations:
- Familiarise yourself with the layout of the prayer hall and the church building in general to know the evacuation routes;
- Be careful when lighting candles from candle holders, roll up your sleeves;
- Hold a piece of paper or a handkerchief under the candle so that hot wax does not get on your skin, and you do not instinctively jerk your hand and drop a burning candle on your clothes;
- Tie headscarves securely and tuck away your hair, reducing the risk of a candle flame catching them when you bow your head;
- Try to maintain a safe distance from other parishioners;
- In case of clothing catching fire, quickly take it off, try to extinguish it with a fire extinguisher or cover it with a dense material;
- In case of a fire alarm activation and notification of a fire, do not panic, leave the prayer hall quickly, but without causing panic or a stampede.
If you light candles at home, you should remember the following rules:
- Burning candles must be placed on non-combustible stands or candle holders at a safe distance from flammable objects;
- Candles must be kept out of reach of children;
- Never leave burning candles unattended.
When visiting cemeteries, remember:
- Do not burn the collected rubbish, but dispose of it in designated containers;
- Do not throw burning matches or cigarette butts;
- Do not leave burning candles at burial sites;
- Candles placed outside special lamps (lumiere) must be placed at a safe distance from flammable objects (wreaths, ribbons, flowers).
