Due to the onset of the heating season, the Lepel District Department for Emergency Situations once again warns residents about the dangers of open fire and reminds them of the basic fire safety rules for the cold season:

Stoves and chimneys must be cleaned, repaired, whitewashed, and cracks sealed.

The stove and chimney, at the points where they connect with wooden, attic, or inter-floor ceilings, must have thickened brickwork – a firebreak.

Do not leave lit stoves unattended or in the care of young children.

Do not store fuel, clothing, or other combustible materials directly on stoves.

Affix a hearth plate (made of non-combustible materials) measuring 0.7 x 0.5 m to the combustible floor in front of the stove's firebox opening.

Do not leave matches or lighters in places accessible to children.

In case of a fire, call "101 or 112".
