The Prosecutor's Office of Lepel District has analysed information posted in the internet community "Это Минск, детка! THISMINSK MEDIA" on the social network "VKontakte" (identifier: https://vk.com/thisminsk) and identified signs of extremism within it.
For reference. The number of subscribers to this internet community exceeded 115 thousand people.
It has been established that calls for mass riots, for activities aimed at the unconstitutional seizure of state power in the Republic of Belarus, and for participation in an extremist formation were systematically posted in the aforementioned internet community from 2020 to the present.
Access to such resources could be obtained without hindrance or restriction by any citizen using the Internet and the "VKontakte" social network. The administration of the "VKontakte" social network took no measures to exclude the posting of extremist materials in the specified internet community.
Based on the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Counteracting Extremism", the Prosecutor's Office of Lepel District applied to the court on 20.06.2023 with a statement requesting that this information product be recognised as extremist materials.
By the decision of the Lepel District Court dated 29.06.2023, the prosecutor's statement was fully granted, and its immediate execution was permitted. A copy of the court's decision has been sent to the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus for inclusion of the specified resources in the Republican List of Extremist Materials and their blocking as contributing to the dissemination of extremist materials within the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
