This year, an increase in juvenile crime has also been observed within the district.
For instance, in 2020, 6 crimes were committed by minors in the Lepel district, and in 2021, this figure rose to 12 (a 100% increase).
In light of the foregoing, the prosecutor's office reminds of the measures for the prevention of juvenile crime.
The prevention of juvenile crime includes a set of early preventive measures aimed at shaping a child's personality.
The most common measures for the prevention of juvenile crime are:
- identifying adverse family situations, upbringing and living conditions of a child;
- identifying sources of negative influence on adolescents that may contribute to an antisocial lifestyle and, subsequently, to a child committing crimes and offences;
- promoting the employment of minors, involving them in school events;
- detecting and preventing situations where children may be involved in crimes;
- socio-pedagogical assistance and rehabilitation for minors who are in a socially dangerous situation;
- applying measures provided for by law to persons who involve adolescents in drunkenness and other antisocial activities, etc.
It is worth noting that timely detection of deviations in the behaviour of children and adolescents, and properly organised pedagogical assistance, can play an important role in preventing situations that may lead to children and adolescents committing crimes.
