Due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions, caused by low temperatures, snowfall, and ice formations in areas of human and vehicular movement, and in order to ensure the safety of the population and reduce the risk of injuries, the district sanitary and epidemiological service has intensified its work on monitoring the timely implementation of anti-icing measures on territories adjacent to facilities and public areas in settlements, as well as snow and ice removal from territories (facilities) within the region.
The requirements for the scope and frequency of anti-icing measures are set out in the Sanitary Norms and Rules "Sanitary and Epidemiological Requirements for the Maintenance and Operation of Territories", approved by the Resolution of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus dated 02.02.2023 No. 22, and in the Rules for the Improvement and Maintenance of Settlements, approved by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated 28 November 2012 No. 1087 (as amended by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers dated 16.05.2025 No. 267).
The Lepel District Centre for Hygiene and Epidemiology reminds that to prevent injuries during winter, it is necessary to:
timely clear sidewalks and pedestrian areas, building entrances and steps of snow, ice, and treat them with anti-icing agents daily and as needed;
timely remove snow and ice formations from roofs, balconies, and other protruding parts of buildings;
pay increased attention to installed warning signs: "Caution! Falling snow and ice from the roof is possible", "Caution! Slippery steps", "Caution! Ice" etc.;
also, taking into account weather conditions, it is necessary to choose appropriate footwear correctly, not to hurry, and to be attentive, which will significantly reduce the number of injuries.
