And this is not mere youthful self-confidence: Nikita is the absolute winner of the regional stage of the Republican Olympiad in Astronomy... Another subject, another student – and another victory! Gymnasium student Alexandra Galinovich took second place and became a first-degree laureate in German. She is still far from university admission anxieties, being a ninth-grader, however, like Nikita, this victory has given Alexandra a "green light" to the final stage of the Republican Olympiad. At the end of March, our students will defend not only the honour of the district but also the region there.
From theoretical problems, the solutions of which required knowledge of higher mathematics, to a silent map of the starry sky – Nikita Pavets, an astronomy enthusiast, had to recall a great deal. 129 points – and first place. By the way, in the tenth grade, Nikita was one place short of a third-degree diploma. Another year – and victory. And while Nikita was prepared for the regional stage only by his Physics and Astronomy teacher, Oksana Khorlenok, for the Republican stage, he was coached by professors from VSU named after P. M. Masherov. For a week, the students solved problems in higher mathematics and visited the observatory.
Nikita will demonstrate how he has assimilated the knowledge in Mogilev, where the best young astronomers will gather. However, stars are unlikely to become his life's work. His dreams are to start his own business and engage in computer technologies. In the meantime, the stars will help the young man gain admission to the Faculty of Information Technologies and Management at BSUIR…

For three years in a row, Alexandra Galinovich, a student of the 9th "B" form at the I. M. Yerashov Gymnasium, has been participating in Olympiads for the tenth grade, and has twice been a third-degree diploma winner. Her mother, Natalia Kazimirovna, noticed her daughter's aptitude for languages long ago. Starting from the fifth grade, she began subscribing to "Yeshko" lessons for her, which Alexandra diligently studied. Now, her German teacher, Svetlana Shakura, is preparing the ninth-grader for the Olympiads.
The mother, the German teacher, and the form teacher Galina Zhernosek – everyone was worried about Alexandra. Now they will be keeping their fingers crossed for her during the final stage of the Republican Olympiad, which will be held in Polotsk.
Alexandra still has two years before her final year. She has many victories ahead of her. Perhaps she will reach the same heights as her sister Victoria, who in 2010 received a bronze medal at the International Biology Olympiad in South Korea. Maybe Alexandra will be among the gold medalists, 29 of whom the gymnasium has already produced in its six years of existence. However, one thing is clear: there is already something to rejoice about and be proud of…
