On October 28, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. OJSC "Kuptsov" (Gluboksky district, Vitebsk region) has mastered the production and expanded its product range with 24 types of fruit and vegetable preserves and juices this year. The product range has been updated by more than half, the enterprise director Lyudmila Naumova told a BELTA correspondent.
The new products include both exotic items like canned olives and products made from local raw materials – carrot nectar with pulp, royal-style courgettes with garlic, apples with cranberries pureed with sugar, and vegetable salads and appetizers. The enterprise's technologists are developing several more new items, including ketchups with added peppers, herbs, and cucumbers, as well as vegetable salads and appetizers.
In total, over 9 months of 2011, 1426.5 tons of new product types were produced, with a total value of Br3.6 billion.
The significant update of the product range has allowed the enterprise to increase product sales, the director emphasized. Sales revenue for 9 months reached Br22.6 billion, whereas for the same period last year it slightly exceeded Br8 billion. The profitability of sold products was 8.4%, compared to minus 13.6% in January-September 2010.
OJSC "Kuptsov" preserves and juices are exported to the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan. The positive foreign trade balance for 9 months amounted to $231 thousand.
The increase in sales has affected the average monthly wage of employees: it reached Br1.6 million, compared to Br783.7 thousand last year.
As Lyudmila Naumova noted, the demand for OJSC "Kuptsov" products is driven by both quality and price. To reduce costs, the enterprise grows vegetables itself. This year, harvests of peas, courgettes, carrots, beetroot, and potatoes were gathered from 795 hectares of leased land.
The enterprise was established in 1946 and reorganized into OJSC "Gluboksky Cannery" in 2003. In 2011, the joint-stock company underwent rebranding and became OJSC "Kuptsov". The state owns 99.6% of the shares. The joint-stock company is one of the core enterprises of the republic's canning industry, producing fruit and vegetable preserves. The plant is the only enterprise in the Vitebsk region producing canned peas and concentrated apple juice. The enterprise can produce over 100 types of vegetable and fruit preserves, concentrated juices, and other products in "Twist-off" glass jars and "Tetra Pak" packaging. For the 9 months of the current year, 12,082 cans of preserves were produced, with a growth rate of 119.6% compared to the same period last year. The enterprise employs 300 people.
