The staffing of the main sectors of the national economy of the Vitebsk region is 96.4%. Boris Efremov, Chairman of the Committee for Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, informed journalists about this, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"As of December 1, the staffing of the main sectors of the national economy in the Vitebsk region is 96.4%. This figure is close to 100%, and on the whole, one might think that there are no problems today. The number of vacancies has significantly increased since the beginning of the year – today there are 15.5 thousand. The main applicants for vacancies are the industry sector (almost 3 thousand), agriculture – 2.5 thousand, and over 1 thousand in the sectors of transport, construction, housing and communal services, and healthcare," he said.

Among the districts, a growth rate of the economically active population exceeding 100% is observed in the Vitebsk and Lepel districts. "In several regions, the growth rate of the economically active population is equal to or higher than the regional average. These are the Gluboksky, Lioznensky, Orshansky, Polotsky, Postavsky districts and Vitebsk," explained Boris Efremov.

Regarding the economically active population, 24% are employed in industry. Trade employs 13%, education – 12%, agriculture – 11%, healthcare – 9%, and construction – 5%. "More than 70% of the economically active population are employees of large and medium-sized enterprises, including in the specified types of economic activities," added the chairman of the committee.

Today, the meeting discussed the progress of implementing the decision of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee dated October 31, 2022, No. 589 "On additional measures for staffing state organizations". Igor Sergeenko, Head of the Presidential Administration, took part in the meeting.
