In connection with the start of summer holidays, the State Automobile Inspectorate recommends that parents review the rules of safe behaviour with young pedestrians and cyclists, especially in courtyards and at pedestrian crossings, discuss potential dangers and monitor compliance with traffic regulations.A child must firmly know that the roadway is a dangerous area. The edge of the pavement is a boundary that can only be crossed after a specific algorithm of actions: stop, look around, make sure that drivers have noticed you and are letting you pass, only then proceed across the crossing.
Increased attention is required from drivers in courtyards. A child may run out from behind any parked car or tree! Children must be taught to look out from behind an obstacle first to ensure safety, and only then proceed.
Remember that children under 14 years of age can only use personal mobility devices in residential and pedestrian zones, and cannot ride a bicycle before this age without adult supervision. To safely cross the roadway, it is better to dismount and cross the pedestrian crossing at a calm pace.
An important task for adults is to supervise children. Exclude teenagers' access to car, motorcycle, and moped keys.
Your daily reminder and personal example of safe behaviour will help protect children from harm.
