Retail outlets are sufficiently equipped with refrigeration units. This was reported to BELTA by the Republican Centre for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health.
The sanitary and epidemiological service constantly carries out supervisory measures to control the compliance of retail outlets with hygiene requirements, including on weekends. "It has been established that trade enterprises are sufficiently equipped with modern refrigeration and trade equipment," the centre stated.
At the same time, one should not let their guard down when buying food products, especially in hot weather. It is necessary to pay attention to product expiry dates, temperature conditions for sale and storage, the availability of documents confirming the quality and safety of the goods, and the integrity of their packaging.
When preparing food at home, it is important to follow simple rules. Thus, before starting to cook, and also after contact with raw products, hands should be thoroughly washed. It is recommended to use separate cutting boards and knives, and to thoroughly wash (preferably with boiling water) fruits, vegetables, and berries. "Consume cooked food without delay. Remember: the longer it remains at room temperature, the higher the probability of food poisoning," specialists emphasised.
When planning a trip to the countryside, one should take care of a disinfectant. This can be wet wipes or an antiseptic gel. Fruits and vegetables should be taken with you already washed and dried. "Do not take perishable products on the road if you do not have a cooler bag. Observe hygiene when preparing dishes, thoroughly fry meat, refrain from preparing multi-component salads dressed with mayonnaise, and drink only bottled water, as raw water can be a frequent cause of poisoning," the centre said.
Specialists also drew attention to the following: "If symptoms of food poisoning occur, especially in children, do not self-medicate, but seek medical attention immediately."
