The volume of innovative products manufactured in Belarusian technoparks has more than doubled over 5 years, as reported by the Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology, Alexander Shumilin, in an interview with a BELTA correspondent.
"Special attention is paid to the development of technoparks, which are becoming platforms for organising innovative production. Over the past five years, the number of jobs in technoparks has increased from 600 to 1.5 thousand, and the volume of innovative products manufactured has more than doubled," said Alexander Shumilin.
In 2017, four technoparks and two technology transfer centres were established. Technoparks were created at Belarusian State University and the Gorki Agricultural Academy. A technology transfer centre was established at the Republican Institute for Vocational Education. Both a technopark and a technology transfer centre were created at Yanka Kupala Grodno State University. A new science and technology park was also formed based on the "Law and Order" business incubator in Vitebsk. "The SCST, jointly with the regional executive committees, has begun work on forming regional innovation platforms in major district centres. Technoparks are already operating in Novopolotsk and Pinsk. Work is underway to establish them in Orsha, Borisov, and Bobruisk," noted the Chairman of the SCST.
Belarus has established a developed network of entities within this infrastructure, covering all regions and including 24 entities, comprising 14 science and technology parks, 9 technology transfer centres, and the Belarusian Innovation Fund.
