The regional charity New Year's celebration brought together about 1,000 children at the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
The Governor's Christmas Tree, traditionally held as part of the "Our Children" campaign, invited winners of subject Olympiads, creative contests, sports competitions, children with disabilities, children from large and low-income families, and orphans from all districts of the region. Before the New Year's performance, the children had the opportunity to participate in fun games and contests, a festive photo zone was organised, and a Father Frost's workshop was open, where children created New Year's souvenirs with their own hands. The guests of the celebration were entertained by children's creative groups and costumed characters, and a decorative and applied arts exhibition was organised.
Before the official part of the celebration began, the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, also visited the New Year's souvenir workshop, talked with the children and teachers, viewed the exhibition, and shared his impressions with journalists. "When you look at the children's crafts, you try to see the future of the young masters in them. Some items are made very professionally. These children must be noticed and given the opportunity to develop their talent. It is important that gifted children are not lost in life. Future outstanding masters should be supported starting from the age of 6-8," said the head of the region.
Later, congratulating the children from the stage of the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall, the Governor emphasised that the best of the best were invited to the celebration. The Christmas Tree brought together children who have achieved success in their studies, sports, and creative pursuits, and who are proactive and goal-oriented. "Children's successes are a great joy for adults. I wish you continued success in everything you do, that your dreams come true, and that you achieve the goals that each of you has set for yourself," said Nikolai Sherstnev. "I hope the celebration leaves vivid impressions and brings a true New Year's mood."
As a gift from the celebration participants, the children presented the Governor with handmade souvenirs. After the official part, it was time for a fairy tale. Children and adults became spectators of the New Year's interactive musical "In Wonderland" – the famous Lewis Carroll's tale came to life on the stage of the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall.
The New Year's charity event "Our Children" started in Belarus on December 11 and will run until January 10. The marathon of kindness is held under the patronage of the President of Belarus. During the event, heads of republican government bodies, local executive and administrative bodies, enterprises and organizations visit children's boarding institutions, guardianship and foster families, children's hospitals, provide them with assistance in solving existing problems, and present gifts to children.
