In Vitebsk, the Governor's Christmas Tree will gather 950 children from all cities and districts of the region, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Main Department for Education of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

The traditional regional charity event will take place on December 27 and will bring together children aged 8 to 14 in the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall. These are children who have become winners and laureates of various Olympiads, creative and sports competitions, activists, children from large and low-income families, those left without parental care, and orphans. On this day, each of them, along with the warmest congratulations from the region's leadership, will receive a sweet gift and vivid impressions from the New Year's performance.

The series of major winter holidays in the regional centre will be opened on December 16 by a New Year's Ball for schoolchildren and students, to which 200 young men and women have been invited. During the event, the best among them will be awarded for various achievements. Special attention will also be paid to children with psychophysical development peculiarities during these days. A kind New Year's fairy tale will gather 120 such children on December 24 at the Vitebsk Regional Palace of Children and Youth.

Today, the nationwide New Year's charity campaign "Our Children" starts in Belarus and will run until January 10. During its duration, hundreds of events are planned in the Vitebsk region, which will take place in all educational institutions of the region. Representatives of executive and administrative authorities, public organisations, sponsors, and volunteers will be honoured guests in many social shelters, boarding schools, and family-type orphanages during these days. The main goal of the campaign is to leave no child without attention.-0-
