The Lepel District Prosecutor's Office supported the state prosecution in court in a criminal case against a 52-year-old local resident, who is accused of threatening to kill.
This private-public prosecution criminal case was initiated by the Prosecutor of Lepel District after reviewing the materials of a pre-investigation check.
It was established that the accused, while in a state of alcoholic intoxication on April 1, 2024, at his place of residence, out of jealousy, doused his cohabitant with gasoline from a bottle, and then, uttering a threat to kill by burning her, lit a match. After the match went out, the man left the room. The victim perceived her cohabitant's threat as real and feared its execution.
In the court hearing, the accused fully admitted his guilt.
Taking into account the evidence presented by the state prosecutor, the Lepel District Court rendered a guilty verdict. Pursuant to Article 186 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, the accused was sentenced to arrest for a term of 3 months.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed and protested in appellate order.
