Forty agricultural enterprises from 14 districts of the Vitebsk region have started spring sowing.
As of the morning of April 11, over 1.9 thousand hectares, or 1% of the target, were sown with grain and leguminous crops. Winter grain and cruciferous crops are being top-dressed on farms. In total, the work has been carried out on 73 thousand hectares. The removal and application of organic fertilizers are ongoing.
The total area for spring sowing will be 314 thousand hectares, including 135 thousand hectares for grain and leguminous crops, about 19 thousand hectares for cruciferous crops, 80 thousand hectares for corn, and 11 thousand hectares for flax.
In autumn, 234.9 thousand hectares were sown with winter grain crops (33 thousand hectares more than for the 2021 harvest), and 75 thousand hectares with cruciferous crops. Significantly more fallow land was ploughed (a total of 221 thousand hectares), which will speed up spring ploughing.
