The harvesting campaign and sowing of winter crops are continuing in the northern region, with Vitebsk, Orsha, and Rosson districts traditionally leading the way. Farmers in the region have harvested over 343.2 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops, exceeding 97% of the plan. They have threshed over 1 million 42 thousand tons, with an average yield of 30.4 centners per hectare. Specialists noted that this is 20% more than last year's yield. Farms in Vitebsk, Orsha, Rosson, and Senno districts have completely finished harvesting these crops.

"Currently, agricultural enterprises in the region are working towards next year's harvest. Sowing of winter grain crops such as wheat, rye, and triticale is underway. Overall, the structure of sown areas has remained at last year's level. The areas for winter barley have been doubled," the regional agricultural department reported. According to the committee, enterprises in Dubroven, Vitebsk, and Liozno districts have sown the most winter grains. All regions of the oblast have taken the necessary measures to achieve maximum yields. The sowing of winter grains is planned to be completed by September 30.

The largest producer of potatoes in the Vitebsk region is the Tolochin Cannery. The yield at its agricultural enterprise reaches 500 centners per hectare, which is the highest indicator in the country, specialists explain. Good results for this crop have also been recorded at the Varmas farm enterprise in Vitebsk district, with a yield of 400 centners per hectare. "The enterprise also cultivates grain crops. This year, their yield reaches 64 centners per hectare, the best result among farm enterprises in the region," the regional agricultural department emphasized.
