A new operating and intensive care unit will be built at the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital. This was announced to journalists by Mikhail Vishnevetsky, Head of the Main Department for Healthcare of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, before a meeting with the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, Natalya Kochanova, in Polotsk.

The head of the regional healthcare department noted that pre-project documentation will be developed by the end of April, which will determine the details of the construction of a social facility important for the city and the region, as well as the sources of funding. "In general, the reconstruction of the regional hospital, by the order of the head of state, will be carried out comprehensively, and its first stage will be the construction of an operating and intensive care unit using modern technologies. It will be a new building with 16 operating rooms and an intensive care unit with 24 beds. In the future, phases have been allocated, within which the remaining buildings will be brought to a modern standard over several years. The regional hospital is a flagship in the region's healthcare system. It houses over a thousand beds. It is multidisciplinary. Today, the reconstruction of the facility is important for the entire region. And, of course, the hospital will be equipped with modern medical equipment," emphasized Mikhail Vishnevetsky.

The head of the regional healthcare department also mentioned that this year the Vitebsk City Central Hospital (CCH) will be commissioned after reconstruction. The healthcare institution will, among other things, have oxygen supply to each bed, and after the opening, the regional clinical specialized center will be based at the CCH. Improvement works will be carried out on the territory of the healthcare institution during the republican subbotnik.
