"The joint project of the Belarusian Red Cross Society, BELTA and the Ministry of Emergency Situations has received new development. The interactive map of adverse and dangerous phenomena has been supplemented with new functionality," the statement says.
Previously, users of the Ministry of Emergency Situations website and the "Help is Nearby" mobile application could quickly find out about storm warnings for wind, heavy snow, heat, or other natural phenomena. Forecast data for public notification is compiled by the Republican Centre for Hydrometeorology, Radioactive Contamination Control and Environmental Monitoring.
Now, in addition to data on adverse and dangerous phenomena, the map will inform about floodings recorded during the flood period and the operational situation with fires in ecosystems, including indicating areas where the highest 5th and 4th class fire hazard levels have been introduced. The infographics with recommendations from the Ministry of Emergency Situations have also been updated.
The adverse phenomena map was developed in 2015. It was created thanks to the support of the Belarusian Red Cross Society within the framework of the "Eastern Forum on Climate Change" project. From the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the map was implemented by the Republican Centre for Emergency Situations Management and Response, which collects all operational information about the situation, and the Republican Centre for Propaganda of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. The map was implemented by the Belarusian Telegraph Agency.
The map is created in Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) format. For correct display of the graphics, it is necessary to update the versions of installed browsers to Microsoft Internet Explorer 9.0 and above, Chrome 30.0 and above, Mozilla 24.0 and above, Safari 5.0 and above, Opera 17.0 and above.
