5 March, Minsk /BELTA/. A separate competition for graduates of urban and rural schools is regulated by the university admission rules, so it will be maintained this year. Perhaps as early as next year, the competition will be general. This was stated today during an online conference on the BELTA website by the Minister of Education, Sergey Maskevich. He explained that the Ministry of Education has decided not to make any changes to the university admission rules this year, as schoolchildren are already preparing for the admission campaign based on the old rules. "The new version will most likely be adopted in the autumn, so that graduates have more time to prepare," the minister added. Sergey Maskevich also noted that it has been repeatedly stated that recently the competition for both categories of applicants has been at practically the same level. According to him, there have even been cases when it was higher for rural students. "Therefore, graduates of urban schools should not worry about this," the Minister of Education believes. -0-
