He noted that the troops have been on heightened combat readiness for several days. As reported to the President, on Saturday, following incidents, they were brought to readiness level number one.

Alexander Lukashenko continued: "Three days have passed since the events near us. I mean in the Bryansk region, when four aircraft were shot down. We were forced to react to this. Since then, our troops have been on a heightened state of readiness. Therefore, I am interested in the situation around the country. And, naturally, the directions and prospects for the development of this situation. Briefly. Without intimidation. About what is happening and what we expect in the short term."

Details were shared with journalists by the Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence Forces, Andrei Lukyanovich, upon completion of the briefing to the head of state. He stated that in light of recent events occurring on the western and southern borders, including in connection with the combat training activities of NATO countries led by the USA, the duty forces are on duty in an enhanced mode. "Currently, additional forces and assets are being involved. Every day, from 750 to 1,000 personnel from our branch of the Armed Forces are on combat duty for air defence. Following the incidents in the Russian Federation, the duty forces were brought to combat readiness number one. These included anti-aircraft missile troops, radio engineering, and aviation," the commander said.

According to him, combat duty is being carried out in an enhanced mode, as is the security at all airfields and a number of radio engineering and anti-aircraft missile troop facilities.

Andrei Lukyanovich generally noted that the President of Belarus pays great attention to the development and combat readiness of the Armed Forces. "The main task of our branch of the Armed Forces is to perform combat duty for air defence in peacetime. The Head of State today heard information about the forces and assets involved in combat duty, and about the results. We conduct monthly checks of air defence duty forces. The last check was on May 11. The results show that our branch of the Armed Forces has coped with the assigned task. The results have been confirmed by objective control materials," he said.

Great attention is also paid to the improvement and procurement of new types of weapons and military equipment. For example, the Air Force and Air Defence Forces, among other things, are receiving new Belarusian-made "Rosa" and "Vostok" radar stations this year. The procurement of new equipment is also planned for the future within the framework of the plan for the construction and development of the Armed Forces until 2025. "We also expect the delivery of new anti-aircraft missile systems this year, and for aviation - new Su-30SM aircraft," added Andrei Lukyanovich.
