On February 8, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The mother of the child has been charged with the murder of a three-month-old baby in the Polotsk district, the chief inspector of the information and public relations group of the Investigative Committee Department for the Vitebsk region, Inna Gorbacheva, told a BELTA correspondent. The tragedy occurred on February 1 in one of the villages of the district. The woman, born in 1987, who lived with her partner and his mother, was left alone at home. At some point, her mother-in-law called her, and the young mother informed her about the boy's murder. The concerned woman called her neighbours again, asking them to check on the household members. The latter discovered the child's body. A criminal case has been initiated against the Polotsk resident under clause 2, part 2, article 139 of the Criminal Code of Belarus for the premeditated murder of a minor. The punishment for this crime provides for up to 25 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment. Currently, the suspect is in custody, and a forensic psychiatric examination has been ordered, the results of which will be known in March. The woman remains uncommunicative, so it has not yet been possible to establish the motive for her actions, Inna Gorbacheva added. -0-
