The next meeting of the interdepartmental council for providing assistance to victims of domestic violence was held at the Lepel District Executive Committee.

Chaired by Veronika Khombak, Deputy Chairperson of the District Executive Committee, specialists gathered to discuss not just statistics, but the fates of people caught in the epicentre of family conflicts.

The participants agreed that the problem cannot be solved in isolation; a comprehensive approach involving medical professionals, psychologists, educators, and law enforcement officers is necessary. Special emphasis was placed on providing comprehensive assistance to victims and implementing correctional programs for those who have already committed violence.

Archpriest Sergey Leshkevich, Dean of the Lepel District, took part in the meeting.

He recalled that the family is initially intended to be a sanctuary of love, respect, and mutual support. Domestic violence destroys these foundations, and it can only be combated collectively, restoring people's faith that their home is indeed a fortress, not a place of fear.
