28 November, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. One person died and five were injured in a road traffic accident that occurred on 27 November in Lepel district. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Anna Banadyk, Senior Inspector for Special Assignments of the Department for the Organisation of Interdepartmental Cooperation and Road Safety Promotion of the Main Traffic Police Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The driver of a Ford vehicle lost control, drove into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a Chrysler minivan, which was thrown by the impact into a Volkswagen moving in the same direction. As a result of the accident, five people (three passengers of the minivan and the driver, as well as a passenger of the Ford) were admitted to the district hospital with injuries. Another passenger of the Ford (a 26-year-old resident of Lepel) died. In the morning of the same day, in Shchuchin district of Grodno region, a 17-year-old student of an electrical college, driving an Audi car past a man walking along the edge of the roadside in the same direction, misjudged the dimensions of his car and hit the pedestrian. The 39-year-old man died at the scene from his injuries. The young man did not have a driving license. In total, according to Anna Banadyk, 915 road traffic accidents with material damage were registered in the republic over the past Friday and weekend days. 9 people died in 57 accidents, and another 61 were injured. In total, traffic police officers detected 19.5 thousand traffic violations. 442 drivers were detained for driving vehicles while intoxicated. More than 4.3 thousand drivers were fined for speeding.-0-
