One-day exhibition of rarities takes place in Vitebsk

20 November, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. A one-day exhibition of rarities is taking place today in Vitebsk, BELTA was informed by the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore, where the exhibition is held.

The exhibition, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the museum's establishment, includes about 100 rarities from over 30 collections gathered in this cultural institution. Among the presented items are a 17th-century silver knight's belt, silver tableware from a treasure trove (19th century), rare awards of the Russian Empire and foreign countries of the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries, an authentic birch bark letter (late 13th - early 14th century), original personal letters in Polish by the renowned writer Jan Borshchevsky, letters from Vasily Bykov to his family from the front (1944-1945), the seal of the noble assembly of the Vitebsk Governorate (late 18th century), various women's jewellery made of gold, silver, and precious stones (19th-20th centuries), etc.

"The idea for this exhibition arose spontaneously. The exposition, prepared in a short period, includes the most interesting, valuable, and unique items from the museum's collections. The short duration of the exhibition is intended to emphasise the uniqueness of the rarities brought together, which can usually be seen at different times as part of various collections," the museum stressed.

Previously, the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore hosted exhibitions of single items and night exhibitions. A one-day exhibition is being held for the first time. The museum noted that they intend to continue such forms of work in the future.-0-
