On January 19, Minsk /BELTA correspondent/. One of the most important tasks for Belarus in the near future is to increase exports. This was stated by Alexander Lukashenko in an interview with leading Chinese media on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and China, according to a BELTA correspondent.
Answering a question about Belarus's further development plans, the President noted that economic growth is important for us: "As for the economy, we cannot complain about the growth rates. Of course, there was a decline, but we have held on together with the People's Republic of China in this regard. Therefore, we have clearly defined - this growth is very important for us. The Belarusian economy is similar to the Chinese one in that both you and we lack our own energy resources. If China had its own energy resources, like Russia, for example, then China would already dictate its terms to the whole world, economic terms, and would be an even greater superpower than America. But you have to buy everything. But unlike us, while buying a lot on import, you export a lot, and you have a positive trade balance."
The President emphasized that in 2011 Belarus achieved a positive balance, and the same process is observed this year. Alexander Lukashenko expressed gratitude for the fact that Chinese banking specialists provided significant assistance with their recommendations during a difficult period for our country.
"We need to import less and export more. This is our main task. If we solve this task, as you have solved it, we will have no problems. We need to resolve these fundamental issues: export, import, so that we have a positive trade balance, so that our currency is stable. And we have already learned to do this and are doing it today, including with your help," said the head of state.-0-
