Official delegations from 16 partner cities of Polotsk will take part in the celebrations dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of the ancient Belarusian city, as reported to BELTA correspondent by the Ideological Work Department of the Polotsk City Executive Committee. Among them are cities from the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, and Germany. The list of Polotsk's partners will be expanded during the celebrations. It is expected that on May 26, a cooperation agreement in economic and cultural spheres will be signed with Alaverdi, Armenia, in a solemn ceremony. Along with representatives of cities that have signed partnership agreements with Polotsk, delegations from ancient Izborsk – a Russian contemporary of Polotsk, and Maloyaroslavets – a city where, like in Polotsk, a monument in honor of the victory of Russian arms in the Patriotic War of 1812 was restored, will come to congratulate the jubilee. By the way, the new Maloyaroslavets monument was cast by Polotsk masters. Among the foreign guests are heads of seven embassies. Diplomatic missions of Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Great Britain, China, Estonia, and Iran have already confirmed their participation. In addition to foreign delegations and guests, many tourists will come to Polotsk for the festivities. For their convenience, a special page has been created on the official website of the City Executive Committee, where you can familiarize yourself with the event program, the layout of facilities in the celebration zone, and find a lot of other useful information. The official start of the celebrations will be on May 25, and they will last until June 5. Each day of the festivities promises many pleasant surprises and entertainment – from fair trade to meetings with medieval knights.
