"The idea was mine, it's a kind of experiment. And we all did it together with the children from my club," said Tatiana Shakal, an additional education teacher. "Every year the college organizes the exhibition 'Nature Teaches - We Create', but this time I wanted to make something that no one had seen before. And on the theme of 'Easter Joy' - for the holiday, something bright and conveying the awakening of nature, blooming. That's how our large Easter egg was made - just in time for Easter - slightly over 50 cm high, weighing about 6 kg, and unbreakable."
The secret of its creation is that Tatiana Shakal used papier-mâché as a base, but with the addition of a material with a cement-like structure. This mixture with PVA, after hardening, becomes very strong, and the figures made from it are more durable and moisture-resistant - in short, they are even more suitable for landscape design than the plaster crafts sold in stores. "We made the egg's frame from paper, and it is hollow inside. We plastered the outside with our secret compound and dried it. The resulting shell was then coated with enamel - acrylic paint and varnish," the teacher shared the "recipe".
Even in the Easter exhibition corner, there was room for the forest theme, which dominates at the college. For example, a tree became the pedestal for the central exhibit – the egg. It is surrounded by rabbits, made using the same technique, and other forest dwellers. All the children's crafts will be exhibited not only at the college itself throughout the year but also taken to other cities for competitions. However, just before Easter, Tatiana Shakal wants to display the ornate egg on the windowsill in the foyer of one of the buildings, located on the path to the Holy Euphrosyne Monastery. So that people going to the holy place can see this beauty and rejoice.
