About 2,000 guests are expected in Glubokoye on the Day of Belarusian Written Language, the Glubokoye District Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. Creative groups, writers, and masters of folk crafts will arrive in the town, which will celebrate its 500th anniversary in 2014, from Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, and other countries. The festive programme of the event will start on September 1. On this day, memorial plaques dedicated to the writer and publicist Leontiy Rakovskiy and the Belarusian public figure of the 1920s-1930s, architect Klavdiy Duzh-Dushevskiy, will be unveiled. Fans of the classics of Belarusian literature are invited to the exhibition-presentation "Poetic Living Room" of the National Library of Belarus, dedicated to the works of national poets Yanka Kupala, Yakub Kolas, and Maksim Tank. The city library will host the award ceremony for the winners of the XX Republican Competition "Library - the Environment of National Culture," and exhibitions of printed rarities from the collections of the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve and the history of writing "From Birch Bark to the Internet" from the collections of the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore will be opened. Important events of the day will include the international round table "Writer. Book. Time," which will bring together over 100 Belarusian writers and their foreign colleagues from 7 other countries, the scientific and practical conference "Glubokoye Readings," and the competition of young readers of the Glubokoye district "Living Classics," also dedicated to the anniversaries of Y. Kupala, Y. Kolas, and M. Tank. Participants of the Day of Written Language will be invited to the ethno-disco "Ancient Rhythms," concerts by the Honoured Collective of Belarus, the folk music ensemble "Bieseda," and creative groups of the region, and the exhibition-fair of courtyards of cities and districts of the region "Hospitable Vitebsk Region." A number of events of the festive programme are planned in the village of Prozorki: a personal exhibition dedicated to the work of the Belarusian theatrical and literary figure Ignat Buyanitskiy will be opened here, and the folklore festival "Rei vyadze Ignat Buyanitski" will take place. The official opening ceremony of the Day of Belarusian Written Language and its main events will be held in Glubokoye on September 2.
