Approximately 20 small architectural forms are planned for installation in various districts of Vitebsk this year, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by the city executive committee.

As part of the urban space improvement works, auxiliary architectural structures and decorative elements will appear near administrative and public buildings, and will be used in the landscaping of streets, public gardens and other recreational areas. For example, a "Owl" sculpture will be installed on the site near the Vitebsk branch of MITSO International University, a "Hippopotamus" is being prepared for a location near the "Gippo" shopping centre, and a "Lamp with an Umbrella" bench will add comfort to the space on Kosmonavtov Street. Trees near the railway station will be decorated with small forms, and a designer street bench near the department store will add functionality to the public area in the city centre.

Furthermore, in preparation for the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" festival, the reconstruction of Freedom Square will be completed, including the replacement of kerbstone and the framing of flowerbeds in the central part of the city on Frunze Avenue and Lenin Street. For the regional rural workers' festival, for which Vitebsk will be the capital, the renovation of the public garden near the railway station on Kirova Street is planned to be completed, with the installation of architectural lighting and a sculptural composition.

Also planned is the painting of the plinths of residential buildings on the central avenues and approximately ten streets in various parts of the regional centre. Fencing made of stainless and galvanised steel will be installed on 19 sections of city highways. Alongside the current repair of bus shelters, 26 new structures are planned for procurement. The construction of pedestrian paths and landscaping in the 1000th Anniversary Park, and in the territory adjacent to the new Bilevo residential areas, is nearing completion. Since the beginning of the year, over 20 children's playgrounds have been supplemented, and approximately 250 units of play equipment worth Br200,000 are intended for purchase for these purposes. To enhance the greening of urban areas, over 6,000 trees and almost 290,000 flowers have been planted.
