Vaccination against coronavirus in the Vitebsk region continues quite actively. According to operational data as of September 19, 72% of the residents of the northern region, or more than 772,000 people, have completed the full course. For the adult population, the Sputnik Light and Gam-COVID-Vac vaccines are used. Pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children receive the Sinopharm vaccine. In the age group from 5 to 17 years, about 20,000 children have been vaccinated in the northern region. "Booster vaccination is proceeding at an active pace. A total of over 393,000 people in the region have undergone it, which is 56.6% of the contingent subject to vaccination. Every district is working well at this stage," noted Vladimir Sinkevich.
According to him, an increase in the incidence of acute respiratory infections is traditionally observed in the first autumn month. "The increase is due to the specifics of the period. In September, children return to kindergartens and schools, young people to vocational and higher education institutions, and adults return to work from holidays," explained the chief physician. "Medical workers are directing their efforts to minimize the risks of illness and the consequences that may arise after the infection. Vaccination plays a key role in this work." According to the specialist, one should not forget about observing social distancing in public places and respiratory etiquette.
Medical workers continue to conduct awareness campaigns among the population of the northern region, meet with work collectives, and organize mobile vaccination points. Preparations are also underway in the region for the influenza vaccination campaign, which will begin in the coming days.
