In Vitebsk, it is planned to employ at least 2,460 people in new jobs this year. This was announced to journalists by Marina Budkevich, Deputy Head of the Department of Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.
"Last year, over 2,000 citizens were employed in new jobs in Vitebsk. The plans for the current year are at least 2,460 people. Jobs will be created at manufacturing enterprises, and new retail outlets are planned to open," said Marina Budkevich.
According to her data, there are currently 1,150 unemployed people registered with the city employment service. The city's enterprises declare approximately the same number of vacancies. The labour market tension coefficient is 1. At the same time, 70% of vacancies are for blue-collar professions. Employers require seamstresses, shoemakers, plumbers, tractor drivers, electricians, and gas welders. "In order to provide enterprises with the necessary personnel, we conduct training in blue-collar professions. We have already started forming groups based on enterprise requests," noted the representative of the city executive committee.
One of the most in-demand professions in Vitebsk is seamstress. According to the employment centre, there are over 200 vacancies in the city. Many enterprises, including those planning to expand production this year, such as OJSC "Znamya Industrializatsii", UP "Vitebsk Fur Factory", and foreign enterprise "LTP BelVit", feel a sharp shortage of seamstresses. At the same time, some employers state that they are ready to hire seamstresses of any age and qualification, organise training if necessary, and provide accommodation for non-residents. The main requirement for applicants is the desire to work.
The personnel issues will be addressed by a job fair, which will be organised on March 15 from 9:00 to 12:00 in the building of the administration of the Pervomaisky District of Vitebsk (1st Proletarskaya St., 14).
