Including 26 thousand hectares planned for planting in the spring. According to the First Deputy Minister, this work has already begun. Over 1 thousand hectares of new forests have already been established in the Brest and Gomel regions.
Traditionally, the "Forest Week" campaign takes place during the spring planting period. This year, it will be held from April 14 to 21 and will be dedicated to the Year of Small Motherland. The First Deputy Minister urged everyone willing to participate. As previously reported, to do so, one needs to contact the nearest forest management enterprise or forestry. Specialists will not only determine the location and type of work but also provide the necessary equipment and planting material. The main goal of the event is to attract broad public attention to the issues of the forest fund, promote a careful attitude towards one of the country's main natural resources, and enhance the ecological, economic, and social role of forests.
The campaign is being held for the 11th time. And, as statistics show, an increasing number of Belarusians are joining the event each year. Last year alone, about 82.5 thousand people contributed to the increase of the country's forest fund. They planted nearly 21 million trees. In total, during "Forest Week-2017", forest crops were established on an area of 6.7 thousand hectares. Representatives of public organizations, the deputy corps, heads of various ministries and departments, and the business community actively participate in the campaign annually. To attract even more attention to the event, a thematic video about Belarus's green wealth was prepared at the initiative of the Ministry of Forestry.
