The XVII Open Vitebsk Water Sports Festival for Youth will bring together over 400 participants, the Department for Youth Affairs and Defense Mobilization Work of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. The event, dedicated to the 67th anniversary of the Soviet people's victory in the Great Patriotic War, will take place from June 8 to 10 on the shore of Lake Losvido in the Gorodok District. Traditionally, it will be attended by working youth from enterprises, organizations, and educational institutions of the regional center, as well as teams from Orsha, Polotsk, and the Liozno District. A packed programme awaits the participants. Traditionally, they will compete in overcoming a water and land obstacle course, "chetvertlon" (four-event competition), Dombay football, and volleyball. To win in the latter disciplines, it is not necessary to possess perfect sports and tourism skills; agility and dexterity are sufficient. Creative individuals will demonstrate their flights of fancy in body art, amateur arts, and culinary contests. The summing up and the solemn closing of the festival will take place on June 10. The winning teams, determined in each performance and based on the results of all competitions, will be awarded cups, medals, and certificates of honour.
