The regions leading in the number of centenarians are Vitebsk, Grodno and Minsk regions, with 65 people in each celebrating their centenary. As of July 1, Brest region has 44 centenarians, Gomel region has 59, Mogilev region has 46, and Minsk city has 51.
In addition, the country is home to about 10.1 thousand veterans of the Great Patriotic War (including over 6.5 thousand disabled veterans and war participants), 18.8 thousand citizens affected by the consequences of the war, 17.4 thousand former prisoners of fascism, and 688 individuals with disabilities since childhood due to injuries, concussions, or mutilations related to combat operations during the war or its aftermath.
In the first half of the year, living conditions were assessed for 163.1 thousand veterans and persons affected by the consequences of wars, lonely elderly people, and persons with Group I and II disabilities. They submitted 219.8 thousand applications for various types of social assistance. Citizens were assisted with repairs to apartments, houses, outbuildings, stoves, electrical wiring, plumbing, gas, and electrical equipment, as well as with the installation of fire alarms.
Material assistance from state social insurance funds was received by 45.6 thousand people amounting to Br2.8 million, and from local budgets – by 15.2 thousand people amounting to Br3.7 million.
