The international competition of ceramic and pottery masters "Hlina spyavae" will be held in the courtyard of the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore (Town Hall) and the cultural and historical complex "Golden Ring of Vitebsk 'Dvina'" from July 13 to 15, the regional methodological centre of folk art informed a BELTA correspondent.

The international competition of ceramic and pottery masters "Hlina spyavae" will be held in the courtyard of the Vitebsk Regional Museum of Local Lore (Town Hall) and the cultural and historical complex "Golden Ring of Vitebsk 'Dvina'" from July 13 to 15, the regional methodological centre of folk art informed a BELTA correspondent.

During the creative competition, a colourful spectacle is expected with the participation of about 50 leading masters of pottery, folk toys, and ceramic art from the Vitebsk region, regions of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and others.

The opening of the competition will take place on the first day. The pottery forms created by the masters will be solemnly loaded into the kiln for firing at the "Golden Ring of Vitebsk 'Dvina'" complex. On July 14, masters will work in several competition categories in the courtyard of the Regional Museum of Local Lore. These include traditional pottery forms, author's small sculptures, firing of black-smoked ceramics, ceramic souvenirs, as well as pottery decoration technology, home collection, and creative debut. Exhibitions and sales, as well as master classes by craftsmen, will also be held here. In the evening of July 14, some of the ceramic products will be removed from the kiln for boiling.

On the final day of the creative competition (July 15), masters will continue to work at the potter's wheel in the courtyard of the Town Hall. The kiln with black-smoked ceramics will be opened at the "Golden Ring of Vitebsk 'Dvina'". After the firing is completed, the winners of the "Hlina spyavae" competition will be awarded on Freedom Square.
