Around 500 children's works are presented at the city exhibition of arts and crafts "My Beloved Homeland!" in the Vitebsk Town Hall, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by the regional museum of local lore.
The exhibition features individual and collective works. Ceramics, weaving, vytynanka, embroidery, knitting, tatting, Kynusaiga, batik, beadwork, and artistic wood and metal processing are represented. The exhibition will showcase works made from straw (appliqué and inlay with straw, straw weaving), leather, textiles, salt dough, as well as items made using mixed and original techniques.
The organisers noted that the exhibition impresses not only with the variety of techniques and materials used but also with the high level of craftsmanship, originality of ideas, and the combination of traditional decorative and applied art techniques with modern trends.
The young authors range in age from 6 to 18 years old. They are pupils from 47 general secondary education institutions, the city centre for additional education of children and youth, the centre for children and youth of the Vitebsk district, and the Vitebsk specialised general secondary boarding school for children with hearing impairments.
The founder of the exhibition is the Department of Education, Sports and Tourism of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee. The organiser is the Vitebsk City Centre for Additional Education of Children and Youth.
The exhibition opens today at 15:00 and will run until May 2.
