On September 6, the Belarusian Republican Youth Union celebrates its 15th anniversary. Currently, the BRSM unites about 500,000 young men and women aged 14 to 31, and implements a number of landmark projects, the press service of the public association informed BELTA.
The BRSM emphasizes that "the greatest value of the organisation is the people who are not going to sit idly by, but on the contrary, are ready to use their abilities to make their lives and the lives of their peers more interesting, brighter, and more meaningful." Among the main areas of work in the BRSM, they named the organisation of secondary employment for youth. "With the support of the state and personally the President, it has been possible to revive the famous Komsomol brand – the student brigade movement. Its popularity is confirmed by tens of thousands of young men and women employed annually, including in the reconstruction of part of the Augustów Canal, the construction of facilities for the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant, and youth construction projects in all regions of the country," the public association noted.
The press service recalled the "100 Ideas for Belarus" project, which was launched in 2011 and became one of the most popular competitions among Belarusian youth. It received international status – in April 2016, the first international exhibition-presentation "100 Ideas for the CIS" was held.
