About 54,000 Vitebsk residents have taken part in the city improvement efforts since the beginning of the clean-up campaign, which started on March 12, the Vitebsk City Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.

In Vitebsk, the sanitary clean-up and improvement campaign following the autumn-winter period is ongoing. People are cleaning the regional centre, adjacent territories, parks, and public gardens. During the large-scale community clean-up day on March 23, particular attention was paid to courtyards, individual housing sectors, repair and painting of fences, traffic light installations, public transport stops, cutting of wild shrubs, and removal of illegal dumps.

"The main sites last Saturday included Frunze Park, 30th Anniversary of Komsomol Park, Railway Workers' Culture and Recreation Park, Millennium Park, as well as the Vitba river floodplain. Since the beginning of the campaign, about 54,000 Vitebsk residents have participated in tidying up the city. Among them are work collectives of enterprises and organisations, pupils and students of educational institutions, public and veterans' organisations," the City Executive Committee noted.

The sanitary clean-up and improvement campaign in Vitebsk following the autumn-winter period will last until April 30.
