"Each district has its own events (and about 60 events will be organised across the region in total), with which our volunteers plan to visit every social institution for children – rehabilitation centres, family-type orphanages, shelters. We will visit some children at home, for example, those with disabilities or from low-income families. We are preparing entertainment and concert programmes with the help of volunteers, cultural and educational institutions, and partners. Of course, guests will not come to the children empty-handed. Moreover, the gifts will often be specific, not random – collected with the help of the "Wish Trees" initiative. This is a well-known event: orphans or other children in need write wish cards, which are placed on a stylised Christmas tree in a large shopping centre or another institution with a high footfall, where visitors fulfil the children's requests as much as possible," Viktor Glushin noted.
Additionally, BRSM is simply organising the collection of stationery, educational games, soft toys, sports equipment, or financial assistance. Or, as in Orsha, for example, contests will be held for making handmade amulet toys, which will later be handed over along with other gifts to social institutions in the district.
The event's activities include not only congratulations but also assistance. For example, in Gluboksky district, employees of the territorial centre for social services for the population will visit young people with disabilities at home, helping with food, clothing, and other household issues for those in need.
In Vitebsk itself, on December 19, within the framework of the "Miracles for Christmas" campaign, a charity event "From Heart to Heart" will be held. The Pervomaisky District Committee of the BRSM, together with volunteers from the "WITH KINDNESS!" squad, the "Bright Kids!" aesthetic development studio, and the UNITED dance school, have prepared a concert and entertainment program, a master class on Christmas tree decoration, a "Santa Claus Post Office" and much more for young visitors to the GREEN shopping center. Most importantly, a collection of gifts and funds for their purchase will be held for orphans, children with disabilities, and those being raised in large and low-income families. Every visitor to the GREEN shopping center who participates in the gift collection will receive a sweet gift from the volunteers, featuring the symbol of the upcoming 2017, and a campaign symbol postcard with New Year's wishes.
The Republican charity campaign "Miracles for Christmas" is an annual joint event of the public associations "Belarusian Republican Youth Union" and "Belarusian Republican Pioneer Organization". The symbol of the campaign is red mittens, which reflect the desire of children and youth of Belarus to surround people with care and attention, especially during the New Year and Christmas holidays.
