Around 70 sites with outdoor exercise equipment are planned to be set up in Vitebsk by the end of 2017. This was announced by Vladimir Penin, Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, in response to a question from a BELTA correspondent, following the grand opening of the X Republican Specialized Exhibition-Fair "Vitebshchina - for a Healthy Lifestyle - 2017".

"The Regional Executive Committee has developed a program for the installation of outdoor sports complexes. I cannot say that we will reach every courtyard, but around 70 such sites will be equipped in Vitebsk. We have already started the installation and will try to implement the plan by the end of the year. Then we will move on to the districts," said Vladimir Penin.

He stressed that health is one of the main values for both each individual and the nation as a whole. "The country's leadership pays great attention to health and demonstrates a healthy lifestyle by personal example," the interviewee noted. "The Regional Executive Committee not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but also does a lot to ensure that residents of the region have the opportunity to engage in both professional sports and general physical culture. More than 4,000 sports facilities have been built in the region, including halls, ice rinks, and other objects."

The X Republican Specialized Exhibition-Fair "Vitebshchina - for a Healthy Lifestyle - 2017" will be open in the regional centre on May 18 and 19.

The first and second floors of the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall host exhibitions of goods and services from organizations, divided into thematic sections: "Health," "Nutrition," "Physical Activity," "Beauty," and "Eco-Products." Every visitor to the exhibition can receive a free consultation from doctors of medical institutions in the region. The business program includes a regional seminar for medical professionals titled "Methodology for Organizing Work on the Physical Education of the Population" and a video conference for seniors on "Key Issues of Active Longevity." The exhibition features free interactive zones where visitors can learn the basics of streetball, Wushu, and modern Japanese martial arts – Spochana (safe sword fencing); participate in open fitness training sessions, use outdoor exercise equipment, and more.
