The Olympiad movement in the region is a well-established system for working with gifted and talented children. The training cycle for Olympiads is year-round. Educational and training camps are held, supporting schools operate at local and regional levels, and the methodological experience of the best teachers in the region is summarized. At the same time, work with gifted children is carried out from the first stage of education. Junior school Olympiads, intellectual and creative contests "Russian Bear Cub", "Zubronok", "Kolosok", "Kangaroo", "Informasha" help children find themselves, develop their abilities, form creative thinking, and acquire skills for making non-standard decisions.
More than 40,000 children in the Vitebsk region have the opportunity to develop their talents in various interest groups. They participate in contests and festivals. The best of them represent the region at the republican festivals "Young Talents of Belarus", "Hello, World!", "Kolyadnaya Zorka", "Svyatochnoye Kolo", "Art-Vacations". 85 exemplary and folk amateur groups operate in educational institutions. The choir "Zvonkiye Golosa" of Secondary School No. 3 of Novopolotsk, the ensemble "Vetrats" of Gymnasium No. 3 of Vitebsk, the exemplary studio "Belorusskaya Solomka" of the Center for Children and Youth of Polotsk, and many others are well-known in the republic and abroad. "It can be confidently stated that all conditions have been created in our country for the development of children's abilities and talents," stated the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee.
Honoring talented youth, the Deputy Governor addressed sincere words of gratitude and deep respect to the educators. "Only a talented teacher, who is passionate about their profession, skillfully identifies gifted children, and leads them to new heights, can raise a talented person. And there are many such teachers in the Vitebsk region. This is Mikhail Volkov, Honored Worker of the Education System, Cavalier of the Order of Francysk Skaryna, and now a Deputy of the National Assembly, whose students have once again achieved success, winning seven diplomas at the republican mathematics Olympiad, Alla Moralina, a biology teacher, Veronika Laktina, an informatics teacher, and others. The teaching staff of higher education institutions also devotes much effort and energy to working with schoolchildren," said Vladimir Terentyev.Analysis of the region's team participation in the Olympiad movement shows that good results are achieved where local authorities pay serious attention to the development of the education system and give paramount importance to working with youth. As an example, the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee cited the work of the administrations of Pervomaysky and Oktyabrsky districts of Vitebsk, the executive committees of Orsha, Polotsk and Novopolotsk, Gluboksky, Shumilinsky, Lepel, which is aimed not only at creating conditions for identifying and developing children's abilities, but also at finding opportunities for material incentives and encouragement of talented teachers and students.-0-
