The allocation of funds is envisaged by the investment programme of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee for 2018 in the form of subsidies from the national budget to finance expenditures related to overcoming the consequences of the Chernobyl NPP disaster. The facility is planned to be commissioned in 2019.
The new dormitory building, located on the lake shore, is designed for 166 places. It will allow for a 24% increase in the utilisation of the centre's existing production capacities: the medical building, cultural and leisure facilities, and the school, which are designed to serve 600 people daily. The commissioning of the building also presents an opportunity to reduce the cost of vouchers for the health improvement of children from the regions of Belarus and Russia most affected by the Chernobyl NPP disaster, to increase labour productivity, and to create 50 jobs in rural areas. An increase in the production efficiency indicator is projected up to 20%.
Vera Zakrevskaya noted that in 2018, it is planned to invest Br200 thousand in the development of "Zhemchuzhina's" material base using the enterprise's own funds. These funds will be directed towards the modernisation of existing dormitory buildings, the medical building, the canteen, the installation of artificial turf on the football field, the purchase of medical equipment, the upgrade of computer hardware, etc.
Every year, over 7,000 children from the regions of Belarus most affected by the consequences of the Chernobyl NPP disaster undergo health improvement at the "Zhemchuzhina" DROЦ. Since 2004, the Lepel health resort has been one of the permanent implementers of the Union State programme for the organisation of treatment and health improvement for Belarusian and Russian children in this category. The centre's attractiveness is enhanced by its robust material base, a wide range of medical and health-improving procedures, and extensive experience in psychological rehabilitation. In 2017, around 500 children underwent health improvement here under Union State vouchers.
